AHIP NewsWelcomeAHIP is one of central Virginia’s oldest, most effective and most respected non-profit housing organizations. Since 1976, we have worked to ensure safe and decent housing for our low-income neighbors. We have assisted more than 3,500 people—thousands of households from close-in city streets to far-flung rural hollows—with housing rehabilitations, emergency repairs, a variety of support services and affordable rental units. Our community construction programs meet a unique need: they help individuals and families stay in their homes and stay safe in their homes. Our community housing programs preserve and create rental units for lower-income households. And our community collaborations wrap around our total effort, providing key funding, expertise, volunteer help and a spectrum of support programs for our client families. Each week, too many of our neighbors face wrenching fiscal choices—buy food or pay for housing, seek healthcare or pay the electric bill. For families who have nothing left at the end of the month, a broken water heater or a leaky roof can be a disaster. A search for an affordable apartment can lead nowhere. This is where AHIP steps in. We urge you to find out more about us, join us, and lend your support. There is much work to be done. |
